Professional Photographer & Videographer
Thin Air Media, LLC – Tyson Sugihara Photography

Tyson’s adventurous personality took shape at a very young age and has led him down many paths, and two interests that have always remained consistent are photography & the outdoors. He was born in Ogden, Utah and was given his first camera at age 9 and fell in love with the art he could make at his fingertips. Where many photographers are content capturing the moments of others, Tyson began documenting his adventurous lifestyle and gained a great deal of technical knowledge that he uses daily to create amazing images in his new photography studio.

One of Tyson’s deep loves is the air! He took his first skydive in 1999 and never stopped and he currently has made over 2,500 skydives. He became a Professional Skydiver, tandem instructor & aerial videographer/photographer. He spent many summers not only filming and photographing his own jumps but also those of many other thrill-seeking clients as they fell thousands of feet through the air. He became skilled at being able to capture the perfect shot in 1/500th of a second, falling at speeds over 120 MPH! In addition to skydiving, he explored the sports of BASE jumping and paragliding, and the next logical step was to fulfill his dream by getting his Private Pilots license, which he did in 2012.

Tyson also loves the mountains and can be found (usually with his camera) hiking, mountain biking, hunting with his dog Drogo, or fly-fishing. During the winter season, while snowboarding or skiing, Tyson captures amazing images of extreme snowboarders, skiers and snowmobilers. He also enjoys traveling and capturing shots of the local cultures.

His constant need for learning new techniques and staying ahead of trends has driven him to take numerous workshops with some of the most prestigious photographers and apply them to his own unique works. He is a member of the nationally recognized Professional Photographers Association. Not afraid to try new things, Tyson is constantly pushing techniques, further defining his art and growing as a person; he is even a living donor and gave one of his kidneys to his brother.
